COLOURGLOW - INSPIRATION/CONCEPT
COLOURGLOW - is a knitted textile collection that explores colour on a small and detailed scale. It is achieved by creating structured lenticular fabrics that change colour and pattern depending which angle they are viewed from.
Collection is inspired by contemporary architecture in Antwerp, more specifically Westkaai 1+2 apartment towers. The outer surface of the rectangular buildings shines with tremulous of flickering light that changes with the time of day and the weather situation, sometimes contrasting, sometimes complimenting its surroundings. The opaque elements of the facade consist of two layers - sheet metal and rippled glass; the rippled glass is mounted in front of the metal panels and creates the illusion of colours changing.
Colour is the main focus of Colourglow collection. The aim was to find the most innovative and creative way to play and develop colour while using knitted textiles as a medium. All the colour combinations come from contemporary architecture seen in Antwerp and the reflections of the sky and the surroundings seen in the building windows
Knitted with the very fine synthetic thread, while freely experimenting by mixing colours within structures of knit, the COLOURGLOW textile collection shows new ways how to approach and develop colour in textiles.
